Transparent kayak - La Saline Les Bains, Reunion Island

On the beach of Trou d'eau in Saline les Bains we meet Pierre, our guide for a transparent kayak excursion on the turquoise blue lagoon!

During 1h30, Pierre shares with us his knowledge on the formation of corals and their state of health. At our feet, a small guide on fishes allows us to recognize the dozens of species of fishes hosted in the lagoon. The marine reserve of Reunion Island protects the lagoon by delimiting the navigable zones so that the corals can regenerate without being disturbed. The teams of Lagon Réunion participate superbly well in this preservation.

    • Contact: Pierre, kayak instructor
    • Place : Beach of the Trou d'eau at La Saline les Bains
    • Duration : An outing lasts about 1h30
    • Prices: Transparent kayak: 25€/hour for two without a guide, 45€/2hour with a guide, photos taken during the trip offered and a cocktail on the beach. Paddle: 12€/h, 20€/h for a transparent model.
    • Period: All year round
    • Schedules: The slots are spread out over the whole day. Whatever the tide is, it is possible to go out. It is necessary to pay more attention to the corals to avoid damaging them.
    • Public: Everyone can participate in this activity. The kayaks are for two, so everyone can paddle as they wish according to their abilities.
    • Accessibility: From the parking lot there is some sand to get to the welcome tent but the staff will offer assistance. Likewise, they will help you roll on the sand to the water, being careful that the water does not touch the wheels. To get on board, they use the chair technique and slide the kayak underneath. There is a fairly high backrest and the seat is a little bit padded so feel free to add the thickness of a life jacket if needed. If you need to go to the bathroom, there is one on the same level at La Bodega restaurant.
