Catamaran trip - Lorient, France

In Larmor-Plage, the Centre Nautique de Kerguélen is the ideal place to try out a nautical activity. Whether it's aboard a dinghy, a catamaran or diving, you will find what you are looking for.

We chose the catamaran because since I've been in a wheelchair I haven't had the opportunity to try it again! One is always a little apprehensive about practising a sailing sport in these conditions. A lot of questions can go through your head but don't worry Laurent will take care of you!

The centre is fully adapted to accommodate people with disabilities, including wheelchairs. Once you are comfortable, all you have to do is enjoy the waves and the wind! The real plus of the centre? The setting withthe fortress of Port-Louis on one side and the island of Groix on the other ... simply sublime!

    • Contact: Laurent, centre instructor
    • Location: Kerguélen Nautical Centre in Larmor-Plage
    • Duration: An introductory trip like ours lasts about 1h30
    • Prices: Find here all the info on the course we were part of.
    • Period: Early April - late October
    • Schedules: The time of the sessions varies according to the tides and of course the weather
    • Public: It is preferable to be able to sit up to get the most out of the experience. It is also possible to do it lying on your back but the position will be uncomfortable to say the least.
    • Accessibility : The centre is fully accessible (showers, changing rooms, toilets). You enter the water on a seahorse to avoid damaging your chair in the salt water. The most difficult part is getting on board. At least 2 people are needed to ensure smooth movement with the waves that are battering the boat. Once on board, all that remains is to find a comfortable position.
